What to Consider When Choosing a Mechanic

At LexService, we want to be your full-service maintenance and repair specialists for Japanese model automobiles in the South Bay and the surrounding region. We aren't interested in one-time repairs - we want to be your specialist for the life of your vehicle! As with any long-time relationship, you want someone to trust.

Below are some questions to ask of a mechanic before having your vehicle serviced:
  • Is there a Master Technician on staff?

    You want to make sure a factory-trained Master Technician provides you with oversight on all diagnostics, maintenance and repair work. Make sure there is one on staff who is knowledgeable about both new and older models.


    All our mechanics at LexService have been mentored and trained by our owner, who is a factory-trained Master Technician.

  • Do you offer competitive prices?

    At LexService, we provide personal attention, quality parts, convenience, efficiency, decades of combined experience and prompt service, along with prices well below the dealerships.

  • Do you use genuine factory parts?

    Quality shops always use genuine factory parts. The parts at national chain stores may appear to be the same as those at independent shops, but they are not. Their after-market parts are of a lower quality. At LexService, we purchase directly from the dealerships ourselves to meet the highest standards of quality.

  • Do you offer a warranty on parts and labor? Are you licensed and insured?

    At LexService, we stand behind all our work. We will diagnose issues with your Japanese model vehicle, discuss your options and make appropriate repairs. We never make repairs that haven't been approved in advance by you.


    If something is not right, you have a full year to bring it back for any adjustments at NO additional cost.


    We are fully licensed and insured so your vehicle is protected against any unforeseen incidents.

  • Is your shop a clean, professional environment?

    The condition of their shop is an indication of the kind of care a business provides. Here at LexService, our technicians work in well-equipped, organized bays for optimum communication in our work area. You can see them in action from our comfortable lounge while you wait.

  • Are your mechanics knowledgeable about the latest makes and models of vehicles, as well as the latest technology?

    It is critical that your mechanic understands your vehicle's various systems and how they interface together. We demand this of our technicians. The more they understand, the more comprehensive they are in their diagnosis and problem solving.

  • Do you use proper fluids for your vehicles?

    Different parts of your car require different manufacturer-specific fluids, such as your brakes, transmission and antifreeze/coolant. At LexService, we never use generic, over-the-counter fluids; only quality ones appropriate for your specific vehicle.

  • Do you have good communication skills?

    Our technicians are artful at using plain language, instead of jargon, to explain any issues with your automobile. The more informed you are about our work, the more you will trust us to be your long-term, full-service auto repair specialists.
